Welcome Message to the French Foreign Minister
From the National-Democratic Alliance
The National-Democratic Alliance welcomes the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, to Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.
We attach great importance to this visit, considering it an important step towards deepening the France-Armenia relations and their comprehensive development. The Armenian people historically assign a special place to France as a standard-bearer of universal values, freedom, and justice.
We also believe this visit can give new impetus to Armenian-French relations and the deep and comprehensive Armenia-European Union cooperation, particularly in strengthening democracy, state sovereignty, security, and economic partnership.
At the same time, we note with regret that the current Armenian authorities do not represent the Armenian people and, despite repeated assurances, do not take adequate steps towards the substantive development of Armenian-French relations. It was clearly stated in the statements made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, during the joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
Nevertheless, the National-Democratic Alliance is convinced that the Armenian people strive to have mutually beneficial close relations with those states that support Armenia’s security, freedom, and dignity. Among those states, we see the Republic of France as the first.
We wish you a meaningful and productive visit, contributing to the strengthening of Armenian-French friendship.
